I've got to bite the bullet here. Whether I like it or not, many changes are bound to unfold in this fast-paced world of ours. That's the bitter truth.
We could have a digital twin—a clone of ourselves—as our buddy. We might be free from doing many mundane tasks, with robots replacing us at work. Who knows? We may even discover a cure for ageing over the next ten years, instead of relying on a ton of foundation to look young. (Just kidding.)
My inner self: "Doesn't just imagining the future fill you with excitement?"
Me: "I'm on cloud nine. Bring me down. But..."
My inner self: "But? What?"
Me: "But, being a practical person and looking at present trends, not everything seems rosy. Air pollution could become so rampant that breathing itself may be difficult. Global warming may worsen, melting Antarctica and raising sea levels. We could be more connected than ever, yet lonelier than before, living in a virtual world. I could go on listing more examples of how grim the future might be. But..."
My inner self: "Again... Now what?"
Me: "All I hope for is a beautiful future. And I vow to do my part in making it beautiful, every passing second."
My inner self: "Well, let's stick to that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed."
"If you're reading this ten years later, I hope you're proud—not because the world changed, but because you chose to change it."
