En route to Munnar, we befriended a gang of six Telugu people. After continuously yapping with our fellow Telugus, we came to know that they had already travelled through Kerala once. And experience was the one ingredient we were missing on this trip. Fortunately, we collaborated with them, and now we were perfectly equipped and ready for the journey ahead.
Along with feeling a bit tired, we were famished as hell. But before getting our tummies filled, our new companions informed us about the exceptionally high prices for meagre food, which, according to them, wouldn't even be tasty.
This situation could have broken the spirits of many, but not ours. We were already broke to begin with. Luckily, we had stocked ourselves with a large supply of homemade snacks. Enough to make us give up on having proper meals without giving it a second thought.
Being experienced, they took the helm and haggled with the jeep drivers to take us around the tourist spots of Munnar. After several rounds of bargaining, we struck a good deal with one of the drivers, got into his jeep, and started munching on our snacks like little boys during lunch break.
Along the uphill climb, we stopped at several scenic viewpoints and clicked more photos than enough as proof. But not nearly enough for our memories. And as we moved further, our excitement only kept growing, as every new landscape outdid the previous one.
Our driver asked us to get down, walk across the dam, and meet him on the other side within half an hour, as the road ahead was stuck in a massive traffic jam.
Meanwhile, we went into savage mode, clicking photos in complete awe of the beauty before us. We couldn't help but wonder how they had constructed such a huge dam up in a hill station. Man, it felt nothing less than an engineering marvel to us.
Along the way, we came across a row of eateries. Our craving for proper food had reached a point where no homemade snack could satisfy it anymore. So, we set aside the advice of our new friends and started looking for a decent meal to fill our tummies.
But as we enquired about the prices, we realised they were even higher than those at the starting point of our journey. Believe it or not, they were cooking two ₹7 mini Maggi packets and selling them for ₹70. We quickly settled for some bajjis, whose prices seemed reasonable compared to everything else there—though not reasonable at all in general.
We finally crossed the dam through the jam-packed traffic and, after quite a bit of confusion, reunited with the others at the designated rendezvous point.
Soon, we were off to the final destination included in our deal—Echo Point.
I don't believe mankind has yet invented a perfect word to capture the feeling of eternal bliss. So I can't be of much help in that department. But if you want to experience that feeling firsthand, guys, Echo Point in Munnar is the place to be.
It is a tiny piece of heaven on Earth—a serene lake surrounded by towering trees and even taller hills. Honestly, I'm not doing justice to it with this bland description. But believe me, when you experience it yourself, you'll feel as though you've transcended into another universe. It genuinely doesn't feel like Earth anymore.
By then, we had had enough of the snacks, which hadn't even managed to make us feel remotely full. So, we finally broke open our purses to satisfy the most basic instinct of all—hunger.
After our proper meal, which wasn't particularly tasty but was enough to fill our tummies, we felt rejuvenated and were ready for the second half of our journey.
Well, that's it for today, guys.
Take care, be happy, and goodbye.
