Just imagine this: you have a stable job, a picturesque home, a loving wife, two cute kids—one boy and one girl—and two dogs. Doesn’t it feel perfect?
No, wait. Finally, the cherry on top—you’re having a barbecue with your little family.
Oh man, I would give away all my possessions to recreate this scene.
But one question twitches me like a thorn—will I still be rejoicing with my family at that barbecue if I lose all my possessions? Well, we’re struck in a classic catch-22 situation here.
Let’s cut this crap and jump straight into understanding my view of this wonderful Korean film, NO OTHER CHOICE.
It is a well-crafted film by the genius director Park Chan-wook (for a little reference—the guy who made OLDBOY).
I genuinely want to appreciate the way the dilemmas faced by the characters are placed. They ultimately give the plot an organic texture, making it feel deeply satisfying and natural at its core.
But the thing I like the most about this film is its screenplay and editing. Both are tight, crisp, and near-perfect. I feel that every dialogue in this film is an essential element, carefully planted to develop the character arcs. Overall, you’re in for a ride.
I wouldn’t want to stop at this juncture with just some basic points. But as a cinephile, I know the pain of having a spoiler revealed before watching a film. And if I go on, I might end up giving away a few. So, let’s stop here.
Just go and watch the film. That’s it.
And do keep an eye out for the Easter eggs.
Okay, enough of this—you. I’m saying it to you. Go.
Go and watch it now.
Okay… chalo, bye.
Take care.
